Make the Grade: The finalists are named

AutoFair Automotive Group, NBT Bank, New Hampshire Fisher Cats mascot Fungo, Mayor Gatsas and Dr. Livingston visited Central, Memorial and West high schools this morning to draw names of students who are finalists in the running to win a new car!

This is the fourth year “Make the Grade” will award a 2015 Hyundai Velostar donated by AutoFair to a junior or senior high school student who earns Honor Roll status the first, second and third quarters of the academic year.

Out of more than 500 eligible entries, today, four names were drawn at random at each school. Those 12 students will attend the New Hampshire Fisher Cats game on June 5, when they will each receive a key and hope the one they hold starts the car.

Good luck to:
Fernando Tovar-Marques, Memorial junior
Emily Bourque, Memorial senior
Amanda Ouellette, Memorial senior
Briana Drouin, Memorial junior
Sultan Akhter, Central junior
Anthony Kokoszka, Central junior
Lamienne Faverdieu, Central senior
Zachary Martin, Central junior
Rebecca Cormier, West senior
Elizabeth Wyman, West senior
Christopher Hernandez, West senior
Talia Cote, West junior

Thanks to Mix 94.1 for making the morning more fun at today's drawings!

WANTED: Community professionals to participate in Career Day

On Wednesday, March 29, 2017, Manchester High School West is hosting a school-wide Career Day. The structure will be different from similar events that often follow a "career fair"-type format in which professionals representing various fields set up displays and wait to be approached by interested students. At West, every teacher will be matched with a guest speaker related to his or her subject area. For example, in the math department, one teacher may host an accountant while other math teachers host a stockbroker or a carpenter. Students will follow their regular schedules and be introduced to a different career field with each class change. Speakers are asked to give a hands-on or interactive presentation to the classes they meet. West is offering full-day and half-day sessions for interested professionals. Lunch will be provided in all sessions. Full day. 7:15 am - 3:00 pm Morning only, 7:l5 am - 11:30 am Afternoon only, 11:00 am - 3:00 pm Members of the com
