Community invited to meet finalists for Bakersville principal

Parents and teachers will have a chance to meet and hear from the finalists being considered for the top post at Bakersville Elementary School. The school district is hosting a community forum to introduce the two candidates and offer an opportunity for the public to ask questions. Both candidates currently work in the Manchester School District.

The invited candidates are Cynthia Courounis, an assistant principal at the Middle School at Parkside; and Kate Josef, assistant principal at Jewett Street Elementary School.

“When we have two strong candidates for a principal position, forums like this have proven to be a wonderful way to further involve our families and faculty in selecting the best leader for their school,” said Superintendent Debra Livingston. “It’s also a valuable part of the interview process for the candidates to meet members of the school community.”

The incoming principal will replace Judy Adams, who is retiring after 13 years as the head of Bakersville School, and many years prior to that as a classroom teacher and reading specialist in Manchester.

WANTED: Community professionals to participate in Career Day

On Wednesday, March 29, 2017, Manchester High School West is hosting a school-wide Career Day. The structure will be different from similar events that often follow a "career fair"-type format in which professionals representing various fields set up displays and wait to be approached by interested students. At West, every teacher will be matched with a guest speaker related to his or her subject area. For example, in the math department, one teacher may host an accountant while other math teachers host a stockbroker or a carpenter. Students will follow their regular schedules and be introduced to a different career field with each class change. Speakers are asked to give a hands-on or interactive presentation to the classes they meet. West is offering full-day and half-day sessions for interested professionals. Kindergarten and new first grade registration dates announced

Kindergarten and New First Grade Registration Dates Announced Manchester’s elementary schools will be accepting registrations for kindergarten and new first grade students in April.  Students currently attending MSD’s pre-school programs do not have to register for kindergarten at their neighborhood school ; those records will be transferred.  Not sure which is your neighborhood school?  Find it HERE .
