Students in middle school have the opportunity to earn a Dyn University certificate by completing three eight-week courses in software development. This program provides hands-on opportunities for the students to learn concepts of computer programming.  The first of the three courses will start next Wednesday, February 18.  The program in Software Development Fundamentals is offered by SEE Science Center and Dyn, Inc. for 7th and 8th graders.  There is a cost for the course, but need-based scholarships are available.  Tech companies, such as Manchester-based  Dyn ,  have long been looking to find ways to educate future work-force talent to ensure that they have the talent that they need to grow their companies.  In collaboration with the Technology & Innovation Academy at SEE, Dyn University is introducing this new certification program for middle school students. Among the changes in various school administrations this summer, the last two open positions have been filled. Superintendent Debra Livingston has named Jane Clayton assistant principal of Hillside Middle School and Kelly Bilodeau assistant principal of McLaughlin Middle School. Both women come to their new posts from previous positions within Manchester School District. Clayton served as athletic coordinator for Central High School since 2003 and has previous experience as interim assistant principal at Central and West high schools. She replaces the vacancy left by outgoing assistant principal Julie Machakos and joins assistant principal Shawn Baskerville under Hillside principal Brendan McCafferty. Bilodeau was a special education case manager for nine years at Southside Middle School, where she collaborated with teachers on curriculum and instruction for students with diverse learning styles. The district's Middle School Innovation Team is seeking input from students, teachers, parents and community members about the middle school education experience in Manchester.  Please take the  online survey  for the opportunity to provide your thoughts and perspective on middle school priorities.  Middle school students across the city will take the survey in school this month.  The deadline for submitting your response is March 31.  Thank you for your participation!

Tim Harris's unique approach to customer service has earned him national attention. He can now add motivational speaker to his resume. He  shared his story  with students at McLaughlin Middle School on Tuesday.
