Parents, teachers and interested members of the public will have a chance to meet and hear from the finalists being considered for the top post at Hallsville Elementary School. The school district is hosting a community forum to introduce the two candidates and offer an opportunity for the public to ask questions.
“As in the past before a principal is hired, this is a wonderful way to further involve our families and faculty in the process of choosing the best leader for Hallsville,” said Superintendent Debra Livingston. “It’s also a valuable part of the interview process for the candidates to meet members of the school community.”
The candidates invited to the community forum are Tonya Arnold, currently principal at Lake Region Middle School in Naples, Maine; and Bonnie Skogsholm, most recently assistant principal at Captain Samuel Douglass Academy in Brookline, New Hampshire. Both women have decades of experience in education, as classroom teachers and administrators.
Ms. Skogsholm describes one of her strengths as being able to lead and facilitate support for every child’s learning needs. Her resume highlights many qualifications related to math and literacy curriculum, special education and school improvement initiatives.
Ms. Arnold was a 2015 Maine Principal of the Year nominee and credits the ability to listen and collaborate for her leadership success. She has been involved in statewide technology integration initiatives as well as a school improvement plan that increased academic assessment results by 5-17% in multiple subject areas.
