Help 500 Manchester Middle School Students see "The Civil War" at the Stockbridge Theater!

You can help 500 Manchester Middle School Students and Teacher/Chaperones see a performance of The Civil War, a Theatreworks show focused on the smaller stories of some of the soldiers who were caught up in the midst of the conflict. The performance takes place on Tuesday, February 4th at 10:00 AM at the Stockbridge Theatre at Pinkerton Academy. 500 free admissions have been generously donated to Expanding Students' Horizons for student distribution. But without the needed $1,200 for the twelve round trip buses we will not be able to accept all of the 500 free tickets. So, please:

Youth hockey tournament applications being accepted

Manchester’s Parks, Recreation & Cemetery Division is pleased to announce that the 2016 Clement M. Lemire Hockey Tournament will begin in March.  Named for the long-time Parks Superintendent who initiated the event, the tournament makes use of the city's two ice arenas to allow elementary and middle school students to compete in a fun city-wide event. Principal McCafferty receives inaugural SNHU Loeffler Prize

Hillside Middle School principal Brendan McCafferty is the first ever recipient of Southern New Hampshire University's newly established Loeffler Prize, recognizing those who have unselfishly and generously contributed their time and talents for the enrichment of others and the betterment of their community. In the description of the award, SNHU says honorees set an example for the spirit of generosity, everyday contributions, sometime heroism, and perseverance. Mr. McCafferty was honored in part for his hard work to build a network of opportunities for his students across the city of Manchester. He has been an instrumental champion in the work of local nonprofit BRING IT!, an acronym of the program’s full name: “Bringing Refugees, Immigrants and Neighbors Gently Into Tomorrow.” An average of 100 kids attend the Tuesday and Wednesday sessions after school, which started at Hillside and is now also offered and hosted by the Middle School at Parkside.
