Special Committee on Redistricting Updated Summer Schedule

The Special Committee on Redistricting has revised the schedule for its upcoming meetings to allow more time to consider all of the plans submitted by BOSC members, staff and community. While the timeline has been shifted slightly in the next two months the deadline of October 1 has not changed. The committee would like to thank all those who have attended meetings and given their input. It is only together that we will find the best solution to the issues that face our schools!

Breakthrough Manchester seeks assistant director

Breakthrough Manchester at The Derryfield School is accepting applications for assistant director. This multi-year, summer-intensive, tuition-free academic program aims  to launch promising Manchester middle school students, particularly those with limited opportunities, on the path to college while inspiring high school and college students to pursue careers in education.  All services are funded by foundations, businesses, and individuals who believe in Breakthrough Manchester's mission.   Now in its 25th year, Breakthrough Manchester has supported the academic success of more than 960 Manchester students and recruited, trained, and challenged over 850 college and high school students from across the city and country to pursue careers in education. Call for college advice from those who know

It’s not too early for the Class of 2017 to think about college. This summer, many rising seniors might be visiting campuses near and far. They’re also looking ahead to the fall when they’ll be deciding which schools they want to attend and jump into the college application process. Some students might not be on the path to post-secondary education. Yet. We want to hear from Manchester’s high school graduates who are a year or two into college and have advice to offer. What would you tell students who believe college isn’t for them? What resources did you use in high school to help you plan for college? What are some of the challenges you faced adjusting to college life? How have you benefited from your college experience so far?    Please email your thoughts to communications@mansd.org . Give us your first name only or remain anonymous -- the choice is yours! We will share the responses we receive; your words of wisdom could inspire students to think more serio...

Special committee on redistricting seeks plans from community

The BOSC Special Committee on Redistricting wants to hear from members of the community who might have an idea for solving the school district's redistricting challenge.  Anyone with a plan is encouraged to submit his or her proposal for consideration to redistricting@mansd.org .  Two plans will be chosen to be included for the discussion at the committee's next meeting on Tuesday, July 19.  PLANS MUST BE SUBMITTED BY NO LATER THAN JULY 12 AT NOON.

Redistricting Committee Goals

The following goals have been developed by the Special Committee on Redistricting to focus our purpose on what's best for students and the city of Manchester. These goals will be used after we have narrowed the field of plans to evaluate the remaining proposals against each goal and give each plan a score. It is critical that we keep an excellent education as our primary objective! Redistricting Committee Goals  as Amended on 06/21/2016 Goals Attachments See redistricting.mansd.org for all of the latest information on redistricting.
